If I were not too small, I would be a fligth attendant by now.

If I had more money , I would have already applied in Harvard University.

If I were taller and had blue eyes, I would be a model by now.

If I had family involved in politics, I would be working in the United Nations.

If I had money and time, I would be studying phylosophy.

Child's physical appereance is based on what parents look like.

Child's physical appearence is based on how parents look.

My exboyfriend only cared about how I look .

Modering field is all about what  girls look like.

For example, when a person who I consider a friend can expect honesty from me since I am always going to tell her/him what he/she is doing is right or wrong according to my values and principles. I am not the kind of person who tells to his/her friends only what they want to hear just to make them feel better and comfort them.

The problem with the original sentence is that it did not have an independent  clause and it was not break into smaller sentences by adding a period or semicolon.

correction:

My friends can expect honesty from me because I will always be sincere with them. For example, if they make somethig  wrong, I will let them know that they are wrong.  Although people sometimes do not like to hear the truth, I will always behave according to my values.

One of the sentences that called my attention from Amy Tan is

“I believed that her English reflected the quality of what she had to say. That is, because she expressed them imperfectly her thoughts were imperfect.”

I understand the writer’s perception about her mother as her broken English made Amy Tan think that her thoughts were broken as well; it is like having uncompleted thoughts; in other words, her capability of thinking is measured by the way she transmitted these ideas, expressed in a language. In contrast, Amy Tan was too young to understand that having a poor language is not a sigh of lacking knowledge and holding ignorance. Unfortunately, some people in America tend to judge people’s abilities just because of the lack of English. I once heard an American saying to another in a restaurant about their waiter:  “his English is funny, if he serves food as he speaks we are in trouble” then, they laughed about. What they did not know is that he was working as waiter so that he would be able to afford his living expenses in this country. After completing his degree as a doctor in his native country, he came to United States. However, his lack of English unable him to enroll in grad school to pursue his specialization in surgery. Perhaps, the restaurant’s costumers had less education than the waiter as his improvised English was translated as a sigh of stupidity in his performance. Thus, some people refuse to see beyond a person’s language, and instead of making an effort in understanding the meaning of an idea, they ended up questioning people’s intelligence.

“But I t was not until 1985 that I finally began to write fiction. And at fist I wrote using what I thought to be wittily crafted sentences, sentences that would finally prove I had mystery over the English language.” An example from The Joy Luck is “ That was my mental quandary in its nascent state.”

One of her fiction’s books she wrote was “The Joy Luck.” Such book was characterized for contenting mystery over the English language; it means she used complex sentences. These sentences included words with a profound and powerful meaning.  Meaning that is not easy to assimilate the fist time you read a passage.  Therefore, using words with a deep content, make the reader stop and think about the real meaning.  Such meaning requires to be analyzed for the reader so that people can apply it into a personal experience or identify themselves with sentences that describe our personalities.  Furthermore, The power of the words makes us improve our virtues and target our weaknesses.  Words with a profound meaning can help us to solve certain situation in a real life.  Mystery in language is when the writer challenges the readers to discover by themselves what such writer is try to convey.  However, giving meaning to a words or groups can vary from one another. For example, powerful writing makes sense to people when they can transform phrases into personal experiences or as a needed advice or a way to understand human beings or simply to increase knowledge about something specific.  Regardless the reason, mystery in writing makes us use our imagination and thoughts by analyzing and figuring the content of such sentences.  Indeed, besides helping us to think logically, complex meaning in writing makes people use minds and imagination.

Are you a good friend? Why or why not.

Human beings need to interact and integrate to each other as a survival law.  Families are important as they form the bases to build a society. However, the relationships humans develop are crucial as people like to feel part of the system in which they live; in other words, the grade of acceptation or rejection a person has within a community is determined by the type of relationships such person has. Moreover, It is easier to consider whether a person is emotionally healthy, depending on how socially involved a person is. Thus, friendship plays an essential role in the process of developing a lasting relationship. Because being a good friend is very important part in my life, I consider myself as a good friend because I am sincere, caring and trusting.

First at all,   Sincerity is when the friend tells true to his/her friends; in other words, a good friend is frank when it comes to give advice or to criticize constructively. For example, when a person who I consider a friend can expect honesty from me since I am always going to tell her/him what he/she is doing is right or wrong according to my values and principles. I am not the kind of person who tells to his/her friends only what they want to hear just to make them feel better and comfort them. I strongly believed that a friend does not tell the true and make his/her friends see the reality, who else would do it? The answer is, a good friend.  Sincerity is when a friend is making fool of him/her self and I am there for them to open their eyes. For example, one day my friend calls me crying and telling me that because she was getting bad greats, therefore, she would drop school. But  instead of supporting her with such bad idea, I told her that she had more potential than she realizes and that if she gives up that easy, she would not only would regret this for the rest of her life but also she would feel like looser. The next day, she calls me back and told me to help her to study for her finals, and we did. At the end of the semester, she passed all classes and thanks me for the advice and support. My answer was, that is what a friend supposes to do.

Secondly, caring is when you show your friends interest. For instance, if your friend is in trouble, physically or emotionally hurt, you are always there for them giving your support. For example, when my friends have a accident, I always look the way to help them out. I often visit them in  the hospital, and spend lots of time there. I know that the friend’s presence and encouragement to cheer them up, is going to motivate them to get out from such situation faster. I do the same when my friends are emotionally hurt whether for the loss of a love one or problems with relatives. Besides being there for them and helping them by considering different solutions and finding the one that fits better, I call my other friends to find a solution together.

Finally, trusting is when you feel the comfort of sharing your private life and your secrets with your friends, and you know that such secrets are safe. Trusting is when you know that such person is loyal and will never betray you by using information that you have once shared with them. Therefore, when a friend decides to share his/her private life with me, I appreciate the fact that such friend trust me and I do not talk about what she/he has told me with anybody. That is one way of showing to my friends that I respect them as friends.

In conclusion, I like to be a good friend because I expect the same behavior from them. I belief on a proverb that says “you get what you give” and expect to be treated as you treat people. Consequently, if you want to make good friends and preserve such relation for a long time and make it stronger you have to have at least these qualifications that I consider I possess:  sincerity, caring and trusting.

If you could visit one city anywhere in the world for one week free of charge, where would you go and why?

Increasing knowledge by learning about cultures, diversities and exploring the world is one of the dreams people have. If you ask people, what do they want to do before they died, most would say that they want to travel to different countries and learn more about the world they live in. Traveling is exciting and fascinating as the visitor has the chance to meet new people, learn about customs, behaviors and languages. It is like discovering by our selves a world that was already discovered by our ancestors. In my opinion, growing old without visiting other cultures would be as if I had let my time pass with my eyes blindfold. Blind because I had once the chance to discover the world, and instead of traveling and learning from it, I chose to live in the darkness. Exploring other cultures opens your mind and eyes. Furthermore, it chances dramatically your perception about the world; it helps you understand where we came from and anticipate the future with a better clarity and objectivity. Therefore, if I had the chance to travel I would go to Venice because of its beautiful architecture and sculptures, its interesting history and its people.

What is a good restaurant?

People always struggle in deciding where place to choose to eat. Making such decision gets even harder when a group of people wants to go out for dinner. Regardless the king of food offered, the type of food is determined by the quality of chefs such restaurant hires. Knowing that every single person is different, so every one has different preferences about food; it is difficult to set an agreement.  However, when it comes to a matter of service, people like to be treated politely, fairly and equally. Thus, customers appreciated a good dish, but more importantly, customers are able to enjoy their food when the restaurant provides a pleasant environment; In other words, a place when people can feel comfortable eating. As a result, consumers agree that a good restaurant is the one that treats costumer with kindness, takes and serves the order quick and emphasizes in cleanliness. Therefore, a good restaurant has efficient waitresses, professional chefs and takes cleanliness as priority.

How Japan became a powerful economy?

Japan has been one of the countries recognized as foreign power in the last tree decades. This country has copied, developed, and implemented production’s methods and ways of organization from United States companies successfully. Throughout the years Japan has overcome challenges that the international market demands. As a result, Japan is capable to create national income mainly by bringing foreign currency trough out its exportations worldwide. Then, the question is; how Japan became a powerful economy in less than forty years? The answer is not simple since Japan’s accelerated progress was a consequence of combine efforts. Therefore, Japan success is attributed to government, financial sector, companies and people.

Before World War II in 1945, Japan was a country with an economy based on producing agricultural goods. Therefore, this economy was instable and weak in comparison with other nations. Furthermore, Japan’s economy was highly affected as consequence of the atomic bomb sent by America; it left Japanese people with a sense of humiliation, defeat and embarrassment. The national resentment aroused a common feeling, followed by the desire to recover their honor and pride destroyed for Americans. As a result, government wanted to bring hope and faith back to its people; it was a matter of honor. However, leaders knew that the only way Japanese could get respect again was by gaining power; it meant, having a competitive economy. Consequently, Government came up with a plan in order to increase its economy, but such plan could not be accomplished without involving the entire population; thus, such plan became and was named “A national goal.” It did not take much for people to assimilate the program as their common desire to demonstrate the world, especially, to the United States that post war instead of defeating them, make a nation stronger than ever before. The humane and economic disaster caused by an atomic bomb, more than a politic offensive, government weakens and destabilization, was taken personal from every social class and individual. As a result, the financial sector, government along with companies and people joined forces in order to achieve such goal.

First at all, Government concentrated his efforts in adapting a capitalist model combined by an appropriate socialist system. Government knew that the only way to increase the national income was by being competitive with others capitalist economies, so the government and national investors decided to conquer foreign markets as most economies have recognized that it is the only way to survive in today’s world. Thus, lawmakers were responsible for providing support to the national companies in order to create, to produce and innovate different kinds of products and services. Furthermore, Government made it clear by convincing people that growth in companies would be the key to improve national economy. For example, when Toyota Company started its business, Government integrated all sectors and authorized banks to assign considerable part of their resources in order to help Japanese businesses. Additionally, government restricted the importation of certain products since national companies were producing such products and instead, encouraged people to buy only Japanese products. Because of the sense of patriotism created during and after the war, people looked for products with the national stamp. It was a way to protect Japanese’s markets. In the other hand, products that were imported to be transformed in the industries or that would beneficiate productivity such as technology and sophisticated machinery, would not be taxable.

Secondly, the financial support was also crucial in this process. This sector contributed through bank loans with basically no interest rate. They also promoted new programs so that their costumers would invest in these companies that were trying to start its businesses.

Finally, Japanese’s population was commitment to contribute by rebuilding its economy and pride as a popular desire. They free will to cooperate with companies by giving their best efforts and agreeing to work for a low salary until the company had growth and succeeded enough for them to demand a raise. Therefore, thanks to employees’ patience, motivation, commitment and discipline, made companies such a Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hitachi and Sony leaders in the international market.

One reason for which Companies were successful in conquering foreign markets was because they copied, improved and innovated products, especially, vehicles imported from United States. Then, employees’ Industries came up with ideas in order to produce the best automobiles, with the best quality and technology worldwide. Moreover, companies, which produced electro domestics, followed the same pattern and were equally successful. Indeed, government and companies embraced the idea of working as a team, accomplishing goals as a group for the sake of their country. Companies encouraged the idea of thinking in the benefit of everybody before satisfying goals as a single individual. For example, companies promoted the entire team to escalate positions instead of competing at each other. The results were amazing as people learned to work as families. And by working and progressing as a team every one could contribute with their particular talents. These talents were advantageous for the team to accomplish efficiently a project; such combines talents were transformed in the group advancement and companies profitability.

In conclusion, Japan’s success was attributed to the Government, banks and Japanese people who put all the resources in order to support companies. In addition, the efficiency and motivation from employees, improved company’s productivity. Therefore, the monetary resources and the intellectual and manual resources accomplished the goal of increasing exportations worldwide. As a result, after tree decades of hard work and perseverance, Japan became one of the countries with the strongest value in its money. In 1980’s the United States was concerned about the accelerate speed in which Japanese’s economy was growing. Experts even predicted that Japan would be the most powerful country in the planet. Today, Japan is one of the countries that have overcome the differences of social classes. Therefore, Japan only has two social classes, medium and high class as a result of an effective distribution from foreign currency towards the less fortunate and to promote economic development. Its high level of exportation enables people to have a good quality of life and shorten the gap among social classes. Indeed, although Japanese people has greatly improved their lifestyle, middle age and elderly population are still hurt and refuse to talk or even remember those times of devastation. Times caused by an instantaneous massive elimination of humans beings in a matter of seconds. “The atomic bomb.”
